Four new carnivorous sponge species found in Pacific Ocean

For the most part, marine sponges mind their own business and feed on whatever bacteria and single-cell organisms they can filter out of the water in which they reside. About twenty years ago though, unusual carnivorous sponges were found. Because the number of species found only reached seven over the years, flesh-eating sponges were thought to be rare… [Pending]
